Bandar Seri Begawan - with less than two weeks away, expatriates and commercial businesses spruced up with glistening Christmas decorations in Brunei are all set to celebrate the festive season in splendid style.

Customers will be spoilt for choice this festive season, with restaurants offering special deals to please their tastebuds, hospitable hotels having promotions on discounted packages and supermarkets selling ornaments and Christmas trees.

Patrons can enjoy a sumptuous Christmas eve dinner buffet at the Goldiana Cafe, Orchid Garden Hotel with a wide selection of main courses at the carving section as well as a host of traditional Christmas favourites such as Christmas pudding and English fruit cake.

Customers who pay their bookings before December 20 will receive an early bird discount of 10 per cent.

At Sheraton Utama Hotel, the atmosphere is something that patrons can look forward with an array of Christmas decorations and a handicraft market held from December 13-26.

Another specialty is the `Christmas Wishing Well‘ from December 11-31, where patrons stand a chance of winning fabulous prizes if they purchase any of the Food and Beverage (F&B)

Christmas products or dine-in and participate in the lucky draw. Customers are also in for a treat with the Christmas package for $199 + 10 per cent service charge for a, one night stay at Sheraton Hotel, including Christmas Eve dinner buffet for two at Tasek Brasserie.

Christmas Eve dinner buffet, Christmas Day brunch buffet and Christmas day dinner buffet will be available at The Sheraton Hotel. Patrons will also be entertained by live musical performances throughout the Christmas dinners. Customers can also order mouth-watering dishes such as roast turkey with sage stuffing, lamb shank and beef welling ton for takeaway at attractive prices from Tasek Braserrie.

The newly refurbished Airport Restaurant would be holding a Christmas eve buffet dinner.

However, if you prefer Chinese food, head to the Dynasty Restaurant with your loved ones, as Chinese set dinners are available.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for the perfect Christmas trees, the Hua Ho Department Store in Kiulap sells the artificial trees of all sizes. Several supermarkets in the country sell beautiful Christmas decorations.

Ruth Sanderson, a teacher at International School Brunei who hails from England, said she has started her Christmas decorations and is planning to cook a traditional roast turkey, Christmas pudding and sweet mince pies for dessert.

"It‘s a lot hotter here than in England, they play a lot of Christmas carols and jingles," said Ruth, when comparing Christmas celebrations in Brunei and England.

The mother of two, who is spending her third Christmas in Brunei, added that she enjoys spending quality time together with her family during Christmas.

Eloy Ray, a contractor worker, said he is spending Christmas in Brunei for the 11th consecutive year and is looking forward to celebrating it with his parents who are visiting all the way from the Philippines.

"The atmosphere in Philippines is more lively, Christmas songs can be heard as early as October and decorations can be found almost everywhere," he said.
